Early 2020, the world was highly impacted by Coronavirus (or Covid-19). Covid-19 is an infectious disease and can spread from person to person. Covid-19 can affect different people in different ways. With an influx of cases, the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas has taken extra safety precautionary measures and has adapted in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among the workplace. The Human Resources Department and the Facilities Department have implemented new policies and procedures and have also provided a training for all KTTT staff. Safety procedures include, but are not limited to: social distancing practices, disinfecting practices and mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE). ‘6ft apart’ stickers and signs have been placed throughout the government building, the clinic and the wellness center. Hand sanitizer stations and bottles were provided, clear shields were placed in all offices and face masks are required. There are daily in-person screening health checks and mandatory Covid-19 testing for all employees. If any of these policies are violated, there will be penalties. Persons infected with Covid-19 have reported a wide range of symptoms– from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting and diarrhea. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the KTTT Clinic (830) 421-5930 or our Human Resources Dept. (830) 421-5299 for more information.
