Responsibilities:

The Tutorial Teacher will ensure that Tribal Students are provided with instructional support, acceleration, and remediation as applicable to their individual, academic needs. The Tutorial Teacher will support students through small group teaching, pullout sessions, inclusion, and other instructional needs as assigned. The Tutorial Teacher will collaborate with the Tribal Student Services (TSS) team under the supervision of the Tutorial Services Coordinator or designee to develop IEPs, create plans, and execute lessons that will lead all learners to mastery. The Tutorial Teacher will collaborate with all contract tutors and instructional support staff to meet the academic needs of students. The Tutorial Teacher must ensure students have the accommodations, modifications, and resources necessary to obtain academic support.

The Tutorial Teacher will be required to perform the functions of English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher and is responsible for instructing non-native English-speaking students ranging from children to adults. An ESL teacher will assist students in learning the English language, focusing on areas such as speaking, reading and writing. This teacher may be required to provide instructional support in other subject matter as assigned by supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Constantly assesses student progress, communicates results clearly, and uses data to inform decisions and set ambitious goals
  • Plan and assign meaningful homework based on relevant, rigorous level lessons
  • Able to differentiate instruction for all student learners
  • Able to facilitate student learning reviews and effectively communicate academic needs with parents and students
  • Able to track and utilize student data while maintaining and adhering to standard data collection and confidentiality policies
  • Maintain an accurate filing system for any forms of documentation regarding program attendance, referrals, students, reports, lesson plans, etc. as instructed by supervisor
  • Provide documentation related to student progress that will support the Casework and Advocacy Team to assist parents and students in navigating any academic or educational challenges, needs or goals with the student campus
  • Keep sufficient copies of important forms such as but not limited to Student Incident Reports, Attendance Logs, Communication Logs, etc.
  • Create flyers and other forms of communications to parents when applicable and as instructed by supervisor
  • Ensure that all waivers and permission slips are accurately completed, maintained, and filed for student participating in any events hosted by KTEA or other KTTT Departments.
  • Maintain inventory trackers and logs for all material and supplies relevant to the program as instructed by supervisor
  • Provide supervisor with updates on materials and supply requests that need restocking, at least three weeks in advance.
  • Create memos and back up documentation for request of the purchase of supplies as applicable
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field with a Valid Teaching Certification and Minimum two years teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree from accredited university, Demonstrates competency in the core academic subject areas assigned. Education or related field with five or more years teaching experience
