Job Description 

Position:                             Student Services Casework-Advocate

Student Services Casework-Advocate (Post-Secondary) will support post-secondary students, and act as a liaison between universities, colleges, GED programs. Connect students with the support services, advocacy and resources needed to succeed in education. Provide academic and comprehensive educational case management for assigned case load. Serve tribal students, families, and tribal members; facilitates and assure their participation in the educational processes and programs in the educational institutions are available in the area or in other states. 

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Assist students to complete FAFSA, College applications, graduation application, and any other college/university requirements.
  • Submit accurate record of student data as related to Post-Secondary Education.
  • Document all communication into titanium system and conference reports.
  • Develop educational action plans for each participant.
  • Document progress and chart measurable growth of the student.
  • Work with Case Management team to ensure student academic data and cases are up to date.
  • Adhere to instructional plans required by Tribal Education Administration or other community partnerships approved by Tribal Education Administrator.
  • Attend all meetings and in-service workshops as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assess students using the designated tests as dictated by the KTTT Educational Administrator or designee.
  • Support Post- Secondary students with advocacy, referral and transitional service’s needs.
  • Work with caseworker and social services team to develop a transitional education plan for students.
  • Ensure documentation for student materials, needs, supplies, and check requests/reimbursement and Cost of Living Assistance (COLA) checks are submitted for processing and approval in a timely manner for all TSS enrolled students who qualified for assistance.
  • Assess the progress of students on a regular basis.
  • Maintain portfolios, education plans and student progress reports.
  • Assist in the student referral to guide the individuals for counseling and guidance in order to ensure students are provided access to the comprehensive educational services provided within the TSS Department.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports as requested by supervisor or Tribal Education Administration.
  • Assist the program Instructors and support staff in such duties as deemed necessary in attaining the established program goals.
  • Coordinate program activities with other designated program staff to promote the Post-Secondary Education aligned to meet the programs goals.
  • Work directly with Education and Outreach, Data Quality and Compliance Specialist and other designees to ensure that TSS enrollment packet is complete.
  • Submit requests for additional materials and supplies as needed.
  • Assist with the recruitment, enrollment, marketing and other plans related to the GED program.
  • Work closely with Tribal members, parents, and students in the enrollment of educational programs.
  • Assist students with TSS enrollment, or any other education program.
  • Document all communications into titanium system and conference reports
  • Support Education programs as need it.
  • Maintain records portfolios, individualized education plans and student progress reports.
  • Perform such other tasks assigned by immediate supervisor.

Education/experience requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Services, Psychology, Sociology, Business Management, or another related field.

2 years’ experience in Counseling or education or 2 years’ experience working with students in an instructional setting, (preferably GED/adult education students). Minimum 2 years case management experience, 

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Education, or Social Science related field such as Social work, Counseling, Mathematics, or English.
