Position: Recovery Tech I
Supervisor: Program Director
Division: Health and Human Services Administration
Department: Hew Hope Healing Grounds
Responsibilities:
Responsible for provide care for individuals recovering from substance abuse issues. These professionals perform a number of patient-related responsibilities such as conducting leading group sessions, helping develop life skills, and potentially facilitating interventions.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Be willing to self-identify as a person in recovery for the benefit of others.
- Demonstrated participation in advocacy and/or personal knowledge in recovery
- Conducts outreach services in community and coordinates intake appointments with case manager.
- May assist with the promotion of New Hope, Healing Grounds recovery program at community events.
- Provides program information to potential residents/outpatients either with brochures or verbally.
- Assists potential residents/outpatients to resolve issues that may hinder a resident or outpatients’ participation in program services with community resources or advocacy.
- Informs potential residents/outpatients regarding program philosophy, rules, and schedules.
- Makes appropriate referrals to counselors for persons needing a higher level of care.
- Tracks and maintains outreach efforts on a monthly basis and how many residents/outpatients followed-up with participation in program activities.
- Provides motivation and encouragement of program participation.
- Works independently with strong sense of focus, task oriented, and nonjudgmental attitude.
- After resident/outpatient discharge, follows-up with a home visit to aid with relapse prevention.
- Completes a home visit summary for each contact & files documentation.
- Identifies community resources and makes referrals for basic needs.
- Attends weekly staff and/or treatment team meetings and works closely with counselors.
- Maintains a professional attitude and works in an ethical manner in all aspects of the job.
- Performs such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by Program Director or Assistant Director.
- Transport clients to NA meeting out town meeting.
Knowledge, skills and abilities for the position:
- Ability to be personable, and promote program services to individuals and groups.
- Ability to work with alcohol or drug dependent residents and understand the recovery process.
- Ability to be calm and work with persons in crisis.
- Ability to be respectful, gain rapport & trust with tribal community.
- Ability to connect residents/outpatients with community resources.
- Ability to use personal computer, calculator, phone, copy, scan, and fax machine.
- Ability to be self-motivated, organized, detailed oriented and meet deadlines.
- Must be self-motivated, organized, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must be willing to travel out of state for several consecutive days if necessary to tannings.
- Must be able to comply with strict adherence to Federal Confidentiality Regulations and maintain resident/outpatient confidentiality.
- Must be willing to do outreach in community and/or make aftercare home visits for follow-up.
- Must have cultural awareness and sensitivity of Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.
- Bilingual, English, or Spanish; knowledge of Kickapoo language a plus.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily, weekly, or monthly tasks.
Supervision exercised:
This position does not carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Education/experience requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Must have at least one year of working in addictions field and have knowledge of recovery process and rehabilitation.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. College courses in psychology, sociology, social work, addictions or related fields.
