Job Description

Position:                              Construction Superintendent

Supervisor:                         Public Works Director

Division:                              Tribal Reservation Services Administration

RESPONSIBILITIES

To provide coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Superintendent shall be responsible for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Schedule contractors, consultants, and vendors in critical path to ensure timely completion of project.
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
  • Ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with his contracted scope of work.
  • Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards.
  • Inspect and monitor constructions sites to ensure adherence to safety standards, building codes, or specifications.
  • Walk all units on project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning.
  • Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner.
  • Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to Public Works Director and Reservation Services Administrator for resolution.
  • Perform Superintendent duties at multiple job sites, simultaneously.
  • Ensure subcontractor has corrected all deficiencies identified by project team.
  • Issue violations notices and stop-work orders, conferring with violators and authorities to explain regulations and recommend rectifications.
  • Review and interpret plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, or constructions methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.
  • Conduct Pre-construction meeting with architects, engineers and contractors to explain code and local regulations as related to new project construction.
  • Office experience of Master Builder, Microsoft office (Excel, word, project & Outlook) is also preferred.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Oversee maintenance of assigned vehicle.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: 

This position does carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED)

7 to 10 years of verifiable experience, thorough knowledge of Building Construction, Building Technology Industry or related field.

Specialized training in the building trades and/or code enforcement

Preferred Qualifications: Office experience of Master Builder, Microsoft office (Excel, word, project & Outlook) is also preferred.

Degree in Construction Project Management
