Job Description 

Position:                              Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor                  

Supervisor:                         Program Director     

Division:                              Health and Human Services Administration

Department:                        New Hope/ Healing Grounds

Responsibilities: 

Responsible for reviewing psychosocial and trauma history and assessment of chemical dependency issues to develop treatment plans for residents and/or outpatients, provides individual counseling, and assists with educational classes on topics of effects of alcohol and drugs, anger/stress management, and relapse prevention.

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Participates in orientation of residents/outpatients regarding program philosophy, rules, schedules, and treatment plans.
  • Facilitates or co-facilitates educational presentations, individual counseling, family counseling, or group sessions.
  • Maintains knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse and maintains current LCDC licensure.
  • Reviews an individual’s psychosocial history with DSMV diagnosis to formulate treatment plans.
  • Conducts resident or outpatient individual counseling and documents on progress notes.
  • Assists in the coordination of resident and outpatient program schedules.
  • Assists in the coordination of discharge planning and recommendations for residents.
  • Attends weekly staff and/or treatment team meetings.
  • Promotes New Hope, Healing Grounds recovery program at community activities.
  • Attends monthly KTTT court hearings and provides input and recommendations to the court as requested.
  • Attends collaborative meetings with KTTT departments such as the casino, construction, court, clinic and/or Tribal Council.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and works in an ethical manner in all aspects of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Education/experience requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a current LCDC license from the TX State Health Services Department.

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in any of the following, psychology, social work, counseling or related field.

Must have at least two years’ experience working in the field of addictions, rehabilitation, detention, or social services.

Must have knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DSM-V, and Counseling 12 Core Functions of drug and alcohol substance abuse treatment.

Must have or be willing to acquire CPR/1st Aid certification.

Must be able to comply with strict adherence to Federal Confidentiality Regulations and maintain resident/outpatient confidentiality. 

Preferred Qualifications: Previous work-related experience is preferred.
