Position:                              Housing Shop Foreman

Supervisor:                         Housing Director

Responsibilities 

Responsible for receiving, issuing, and maintaining the inventory of materials, supplies, tools and heavy equipment for the Housing Department Shop; perform basic repairs of tools and equipment; performs any other duties assigned by director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: 

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, tools and equipment used in the operation of the various Housing Department’s programs.
  • Review and apply inventory activities, including movements and deletions of materials, equipment, etc.; maintain and update inventory records; replenish inventory as needed.
  • Develop and implement efficient inventory management procedures; reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Obtain quotes and place orders to restock parts; receives and inspects shipments of all Housing Shop materials, supplies, tools, equipment, etc.; may pick-up materials or parts from stores as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping track of materials purchased for specific projects.
  • Report any stock issues, losses/damages to management.
  • Responsible for performing basic repairs of small tools and equipment/machinery.
  • Basic operation of machinery such as forklifts, skid steer loader, tele-handler, riding mowers, etc. for the purpose of storing or repairing.
  • Ensures that shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material; secures shop areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining MSDS sheets in visible areas.
  • Maintains fire extinguisher inspection records.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by Director. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED); and at least two years of experience in an inventory control or related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous work related experience is preferred.
