Responsibilities:

Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on Fleet Vehicles and equipment, install hardware, telematic, cameras, hardware, immobilizers, ensuring their safe and efficient operation in various settings.

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Diagnose cause of all electrical problems and failures and reports on possible solutions.
  • Inspect electrical systems and all components, identifying any necessary repairs and recommend repairs or preventive maintenance.
  • Install electrical systems or components such as hardware, telematics, cameras, immobilizers.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and tools for availability and safe operating condition.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and assures that an adequate supply is always available.
  • Monitor all work by outside contractors to assure all codes are being observed.
  • Participate in workshops, training, and seminars.
  • Repair electrical components and systems.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by Fleet Shop Manager.

Knowledge, skills and abilities for the position:

  • Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
  • Ability to install electrical systems or components such as hardware, telematics, cameras, immobilizers.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English and Spanish and communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
  • Ability to use computer and provide written reports of activities for the purpose of documenting or conveying information when needed.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Conducting tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life.
  • Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques.
  • Knowledge of manual and electrical tools and equipment applicable to the electrician trade.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools used in the operation and repair of electrical components, systems and wiring.
  • Knowledge of standard practices of the electrician trade.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.

Supervision exercised:

This position does not carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education/experience requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED), Master Electrician License and at least two (2) years of experience in the electrician field.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous work-related experience is preferred.
