Job Description
Position: Student Services Casework-Advocate
Supervisor: KTTT Superintendent or designee
Division: Tribal Education Administration
Department: TSS Education Program
Responsibilities:
Student Services Casework-Advocate will support and act as liaison between Local Education Agency (LEA) employees, KTTT Tribal Student Services. Connect students with the support services, advocacy and resources needed to succeed in education. Provide academic and comprehensive educational case management for assigned case load. Serve tribal students, families, and tribal members; facilitates and assure their meaningful participation in the educational processes and programs in the educational institutions that are available in the area or in other states.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following:
- Maintain the confidentiality, safekeeping, and up to date records for case load, and other assigned case related duties.
- Compile student data and documents in comprehensive case files for each student, and work with the Student Services Coordinator to compile comprehensive records system.
- Develop graduation plans to ensure academic success.
- Responsible for ensuring that students receive the academic remediation and intervention support needed from KTTT instructors, school district instructors, tutors, or other academic intervention efforts.
- Work with the KTTT Tribal student services department and guidance counselor to implement and evaluate all tribal education programs.
- Attend teacher/parent/student conferences.
- Coordinate internal and external educational programs with the support of the Student Services Coordinator.
- Schedule meetings with teachers to monitor academic progress and attendance and report back to case worker counterpart.
- Ensure that case management staff have the information needed from the district to develop comprehensive IEPs for students.
- Attend IEP’s, LPACs, ARD’s, 504, RTI, or other student service meetings that are held off reservation (upon request of the Tribal case worker/manager).
- Provide the Family and Community Tribal Engagement (FATCE) designee, Case Workers and other designees with information regarding events held off and on reservation for all KTTT students.
- Support parents and FACTE designee with procedures and protocols that support healthy and academic habits for all KTTT language learners.
- Plan and assist with all educational and academic events and programs as assigned by Tribal Student Services.
- Ensure that policies and procedures are followed and implemented.
- Maintain confidentiality of all educational related programs and student data and intervention
- Provide support to students with the necessary referrals- community, inter-agency, etc.
- Ensure the students’ safety at the center of all practices, events, and other services.
- Uphold the ethics determined by the KTTT education committee and Tribal administration (education and other).
- Assist students to complete FAFSA application, college application, and provide information to Student Services Casework-Advocate (Post-Secondary).
- Assist students with TSS enrollment, or any other education program.
- Document all communications into titanium system and conference reports
- Support Education programs as need it.
- Maintain records portfolios, individualized education plans and student progress reports.
- Perform such other tasks assigned by immediate supervisor.
Education/experience requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in higher education program; 2yr or 4yr College/University- in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Social Services, or Child Development.
2 or more years of experience working in Education Field or classroom.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree on Education, Psychology, Social Work, Social Services. 1-2 Years of academic advising experience. Bachelor’s degree in social work. Five (5) + years of clinical social work experience.
