Position:                  Pharmacy Director

Responsibilities: 

The Pharmacy Director plays an integral role in the success and growth of the Pharmacy Department. The primary role of the Pharmacy Director is to oversee the day to day operations of our Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Director will create and enforce policies and procedures, participate in the growth of the Pharmacy Department and clinic, ensure pharmacy service quality, and the achievement of company objectives. The Pharmacy Director will provide oversight and coordination of the 340B Drug Program 

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Legibly documents all patient visits following the patient visit. Maintains records in compliance with professional, federal, other applicable guidelines; ensures compliance with all accrediting agencies and with KCHC policies and procedures.
  • Assures that patient care delivered meets Clinic mission, philosophy, policies, accepted medical standards and standards of regulatory agencies.
  • Serves as a liaison and advisor to other professional personnel regarding patients and programming issues. Provides specialty services and clinics per program directives and needs; and assists with the training and education of patients and clinic employees.
  • Advise the HHS Administrator on key corporate planning issues that relate and impact the operations of the company.
  • Develops, maintains, and implements pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Develops program operational goals that are obtainable, and tied to long-term goals of the Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Acts as the pharmacy contract administrator for the development and implementation of key contracts and ensure that relevant performance standards are met by vendors.
  • Emphasizes dispensing efficiency and accuracy with the workforce and manages the dispensing process to exceed program goals.
  • Ensures pharmacy compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Manages physical inventory to meet client requirements and program goals.
  • Supervises all members of the pharmacy department which includes hiring, performance evaluation, staff development and related supervisor duties and responsibilities.
  • Represents the pharmacy in a variety of meetings and committees, including but not limit to Pharmacy and Therapeutic committee meetings, Diabetes Team meetings and staff meetings; quality assurance focus group meetings. Serves on additional committees as needed.
  • Leads the pharmacy team and be accountable for achievement of quality and performance goals.
  • Help identify opportunities and areas for improvement in KCHC.
  • Adheres to Personnel Policies and Procedures, quality assurance.
  • Take a positive approach to developing employees through training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure that pharmacy staff comply with federal rules, regulations and codes.
  • Provides timely and accurate reports as required.
  • Maintains licensure and appropriate certifications.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by immediate supervisor such as but not limited to:
    • Works with contractor to develop 340B Drug Program and main point of contact once it is implemented.
    • Coordinates and facilitates 340B Committee Meetings.

Education/experience requirements: 

Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy/PharmD. Advanced degree, (e.g. PharmD or Masters in Pharmacy/Health Care Administration). Management and supervision experience in pharmacy/healthcare; 10 years post-graduate. 

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree preferred and 5 years of relevant business and/or healthcare finance experience (including supervisory experience).
