Position:                               Labor Worker

Supervisor:                         Labor Lead/ Project Manager/ Urban Development Director

Division:                                Tribal Reservation Services

Department:                        Urban Development Department (Public Works)

Responsibilities:

Performs general labor tasks to support construction, maintenance, and project operations. Responsibilities include assisting with site preparation, carrying materials, cleaning work areas, and following safety instructions. The position works under the supervision of a Labor Lead or other designated manager and provides essential support to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Perform basic labor tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading materials.
• Assist with site preparation, setup, and cleanup activities.
• Operate hand tools and small equipment as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of project areas, including trash removal and debris management.
• Assist skilled workers and supervisors with assigned tasks.
• Follow all safety rules, including the use of required PPE.
• Report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately to a supervisor.
• Participate in safety and skills training as provided.
• Perform additional labor-related tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.

• Knowledge, skills and abilities commensurate with the position.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction. Basic knowledge of safe work practices and willingness to learn construction or maintenance tasks.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other laborers, supervisors, and project staff.
• Physical ability to perform strenuous manual labor, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing.
• Dependability, attention to detail, and commitment to assigned duties.
• Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs, and way of life.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

This position does not carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED).

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience preferred.
