Responsibilities

The KEPA Director is responsible for the management and implementation of the programs and activities carried out by KEPA department. Manages grant obligations with federal agencies, and compliance with applicable tribal and federal regulations. Is responsible for the development, and implementation of provisions for safe handling, monitoring and disposal of environmentally sensitive materials. Directly involved in managing and participating in various programs and submitting grant proposals while ensuring the completion of department goal requirements. Performs monitoring of water quality, proper waste disposal and implements the Tribe’s recycling program, and fire prevention plan. Responsible for enhancing existing program applications, analyzing current procedures and suggesting new processes and program revisions.

Education/experience requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university, preferably in Physical Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or related field. Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible environmental control and program experience.

Must have experience in environmental sampling and quality assurance and quality control procedures.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and considerable amount of work-related skill, knowledge or experience is needed.
