Job Title:                             Instructional Coach –ECLLC

Responsibilities

The Instructional Coach will serve as a content specialist to assist in the Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment to bring evidenced based practices into the classrooms that promote Kickapoo Language Immersion and the overall development and implementation of the Tribal Education Administration – Curriculum, Instructional, and Assessment plans that align to the school improvement goals and language curriculum needs.

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Assist teachers in collecting and analyzing student performance data to drive instructional decisions.
  • Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
  • Assist to hold teachers accountable and mentor teachers in developing, testing, and implementing research based instructional strategies that will increase student achievement.
  • Coordinate activities and scheduling of ECLLC professional development such as (but not limited to) the integration of technology, SOP, and differentiated instruction
  • Assist with planning school improvement and professional development plan for the instructional program and classroom teachers.
  • Communicate regularly and engage in collaboration with campus instructional leaders and content leaders to align feedback and support for novice teachers.
  • Conduct collaborative conversations with teachers to facilitate and adjust individual student achievement based on progress monitoring of data.
  • Coordinate school wide efforts in creating a common system of classroom walkthroughs.
  • Coordinate the development and application of common formative assessments. Promote and coordinate the implementation of research based instructional strategies throughout the ECLLC Program.
  • Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
  • Facilitate and promote a system of standards based instruction, facilitate identification of subject area/grade level school readiness and transition standards, coordinate the development and application of common formative assessments, and promote and coordinate the implementation of research based instructional strategies.
  • Facilitate PD activities by presenting directly to staff or scheduling individuals to present activities to staff, other schools or individuals as needed.
  • Facilitate, participate, and support Curriculum Department to plan, prep, and complete other duties assigned regarding new teacher orientation for all assigned programs.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Meet regularly with management to coordinate instructional activities related to the Tribal Education Administration and Curriculum objectives.
  • Meet regularly with the ECLLC instructional staff (teachers and teacher aides) to align activities, follow up on PLC assignments, professional growth plans that are aligned to service needs, and improvement goals.
  • Provide classroom coverage as necessary when there are shortages in staff.
  • Regularly observe classroom instruction (walkthroughs/observations) of teachers and provide developmentally appropriate coaching via written and oral feedback.
  • Responsible for facilitating and implementing mutual problem solving to assist teachers in implementing and mastering new teaching practices and other approved teaching strategies.
  • Responsible for gathering and providing feedback to management and instructional staff with regard to pertinent academic data; ensuring and monitoring lesson plans, school improvement plans, and instructional coaching strategies are implemented in the centers.
  • Responsible for supporting Administrative Leadership team to develop School Wide Professional Development by creating a calendar for school wide professional development (PD) that is directly related to school and division improvement goals
  • Responsible for supporting Kickapoo Language Specialists to develop lesson plans, materials, and resources that meet the language immersion needs- and documenting communication. .
  • Responsible for teaching model lessons where appropriate, observing classroom teaching and teach lessons side by side with teachers.
  • Serve as a guide, and provide mentoring the new teachers at assigned site and presenting instructional strategies to them.
  • Track teacher development and observations efficiently.
  • Use, analyze, and reflect on formative assessment data to improve teaching and learning alongside, center management and program leadership staff.
  • Work collaboratively with campus leadership to develop targeted success plans for beginning teachers.
  • Work with teachers, data quality office and the Tribal Education Administration Curriculum and Instruction team to analyze student data, diagnose instructional needs and identify research-based instructional strategies to close achievement gaps.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Education/experience requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or advanced degree in early childhood education or

Bachelors Degree or advanced degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Education or Early Childhood Education with and minimum of two years’ of school leadership experience. (Reading Coach, Testing Coordinator, Site Council, School Improvement Team, Head Teacher, etc.)
