Position: Housing Board Member
Supervisor: Tribal Administrator
Division: Tribal Reservation Services Administration
Department: Housing
Salary: Stipend
Responsibilities:
Work with fellow board members and Tribal administration to (a) eliminate unsafe and unsanitary housing conditions that are injurious to the public health, safety, and morale and (b) resolve the acute shortage of decent, safe, and sanitary dwellings for persons of low income, and (c) assist persons of all income levels in obtaining good housing at a fair and reasonable cost.
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following:
Provide employment and economic development opportunities through the construction, reconstruction, improvement, remodeling, extension, alteration or repair, and operation of housing.
Approving written policies.
(b) Monitor for compliance with policies, laws, regulations and contractual
obligations.
(c) Designate areas of program activities.
(d) Establish organizational goals.
(e) Ensure proper financial accounting and maintaining fiscal stability.
(f) Certify/ratify selection of Home Assignees for the Home Assignment
Opportunity Program.
(g) Make recommendations to Tribal Council for the purchase of homes or land to be
used for housing.
(h) Hear grievances for the purpose of mediating disputes between parties concerning
housing related issues.
(i) Generally, conduct oversight.
(j) Provide guidance to the Housing Director based on their knowledge of the culture,
customs and traditions of the KTTT.
(k) Other duties as may be assigned by the Tribe.
Requirements:
Must be an enrolled KTTT member in good standing with the Tribe.
No board member shall be delinquent to or owe money to the KTTT Housing Authority (including any of its preceding organizational entities).
No Board Member may have had a felony conviction (or any pending felony conviction) and or have had a misdemeanor conviction in the past five (5) years in any jurisdiction.
