Job Description

Position:                              Fitness Center Attendant  

Supervisor:                         Fitness Director

Division:                              Tribal Academic & Human Services Administration     

Department:                        Fitness Center/ Community Wellness Center

Responsibilities:

Setting up, maintaining, putting away and cleaning equipment. Ensuring a clean and safe facility at all times. Organizing and stocking supplies, answering phone taking and delivering messages. Greeting and interacting with members and guests as they enter and exit the facility. Explaining, promoting and registering members for various programs, classes and activities. Teaching members and guests basic equipment set up. Reporting complaints, ensuring members are signing in, maintaining equipment maintenance records and enforcing rules and regulations of facility.

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following: 

  • Ensure Center rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements are followed, Assists in implementation of Emergency Action Plan.
  • Perform routine daily maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment and minor repairs on equipment.
  • Document and report all accidents and incidents in the fitness room.
  • Document and report all equipment malfunctions and safety hazards to Fitness Director.

  • Teaching members and guests basic equipment set up.
  • Reporting complaints, ensuring members are signing in, maintaining equipment maintenance records and enforcing rules and regulations of facility.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor.

Education/experience requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED). CPR-First Aid certification required within the first six months of job.

Preferred Qualifications: Operation of fitness equipment; or any combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to work in a gym setting.
