Position: CWC Aide
Supervisor: Community Wellness Center Manager & Assistant Manager
Division: Tribal Education Administration
Department: Community Center Wellness
Responsibilities:
The CWC Aide will assist in the recreational programs held by the Community Wellness Center. During the school year, the aides will work specifically with the afterschool program as well as the summer program held from May to August. In addition, the CWC Aide will help to facilitate programs held within the facility as well as perform additional job duties listed below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Assist the CWC Manager and Assistant Manager in planning and facilitating community events/activities held throughout the year.
- Organize and obtain supplies and equipment as requested.
- Implement a recreation program for the community.
- Keep daily attendance and document participation in activities.
- Engage in prevention and intervention activities, projects, and presentations held throughout the year.
- Set up the program area as needed.
- Encourage the community to attend programs and events.
- Be familiar with established emergency procedures.
- Be alert to environmental safety hazard, wet floors, faulty equipment and report immediately to supervisor.
- Cooperate with co-workers and volunteers.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-services as scheduled.
- Be prompt during student pick-up and drop-offs. Oversee safe extracurricular activities held at school(s).
- Must be able to work evenings/weekends and other duties as assigned.
- Perform such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Community Wellness Center Management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Ability to proficiently operate a personal computer, calculator, copy and fax machine, phone, portable radio, and automobile.
- Mathematics: Ability to perform simple arithmetic for time-keeping and counting calculations.
- Language & Communication: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage and maintain the security of confidential data and information.
- Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment.
- Cultural awareness of and sensitivity to Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs, and way of life.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
This position does not carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or graduation equivalent diploma (GED)
Preferred Qualifications: Previous work-related experience is preferred.

Special certifications required:
- Must have a valid Texas State Driver’s license and must be insurable.
- Must adhere to personnel policies and alcohol policies.
- Able to obtain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must be able to attend trainings and obtain certifications as needed.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and sometimes lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- The employee must be able to communicate effectively in person or using telecommunications equipment.
- The employee must have a normal range of hearing and be able to talk.
- The employee must have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, touch-screen display, telephone, and calculator.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The employee regularly will work in a lighted, ventilated and temperature controlled indoor environment.
- The employee must tolerate the typical sounds and odors of the child care rooms.
- The employee frequently is required to address stressful situations.
Availability:
- Schedule- Monday-Friday
- Shift schedule will vary as follows: 9:00 am- 6:00 pm or 1:00 pm- 10:00 pm
- Typically, 8-hour shift (may subject to change; at times may be required to cover staff shortages as needed)
- In the event of staff shortages, all staff may be assigned a rotating schedule to cover all open shifts.
